DAYLIGHT SAVINGS TIME BEGINS MARCH 14th

DO YOU LIKE THE LATTA WEBPAGES?

Please take a few minutes to take the survey located to the left.  We are in the process of possibly redesigning our district webpage and would love your feedback!  Thank you for your participation!

MARCH OF DIMES

Students at LES will be collecting donations for the March of Dimes March 15th-26th.  We will soon be giving hope to families of babies born too soon.  The funds we raise support programs in our community that help moms have healthy, full term pregnancies.  Our efforts also support research to find answers to serious problems that threaten babies' lives.

PASS INFORMATION

All students in the state (grades 3-8) will be taking the PALMETTO ASSESSMENT OF STATE STANDARDS WRITING TESTS  according to the following schedule:

Tuesday March 16th        Day 1
Wednesday March 17th   Day 2

Please try to have your child here every day on time.  It is much easier for a student to take the test on the scheduled days with the class than to have to make up a test another day.  PLEASE ENCOURAGE YOUR CHILD TO DO THE VERY BEST HE/SHE CAN DO.  This is not a time test so the students can really take their time and try to do well.

Please see that your child:

Goes to bed early each night
Eats a good breakfast
Has two # 2 pencils
Is here on time every day

Thank you in advance for your help and cooperation during a test time.

INTERACTIVE WEB SITE FOR  SC PARENTS  AVAILABLE NOW !!!!
A new Web site is now available to provide South Carolina families with interactive activities to support the teaching and learning that takes place in the state's public schools.
The site features an online version of the state’s Family-Friendly Standards and is a partnership involving the South Carolina Department of Education, the Education Oversight Committee (EOC) and the State Library.
Each year, the Education Department and EOC publish a series of guides to help families understand South Carolina’s academic standards that set clear, high expectations for student achievement at each grade level. These standards are useful for making sure teachers know what is to be taught; children know what is to be learned; and families and the public can determine how well the concepts are being learned.

MORNING TV REPORTERS are as follows: Monday-Chase Hester and Ashlyn Carmichael, Tuesday-Genesis Anderson and Maggie Boileau, Wednesday-Tori Grimsley and D'Anna Tanner, Thursday-Bailey Nodrick and Daniel Allen, Friday-Kaitlyn Wiggins and Brianna Osborn. Congratulations to these students!

From the Principal

Thank you for visiting the Latta Elementary School web site. During the 2009-2010 school year we look forward to working with parents and community members to create an exciting and successful learning experience for our children. This year we will continue to reward our students for being responsible and respectful members of our school community. Our goal is to insure that we continue our reputation of providing excellence in education for every student at LES, while maintaining a safe learning environment that supports high levels of achievement. Our focus on each student's individual strengths and needs will guide our instruction during the upcoming year. We encourage you to be involved in the education of your child by attending PTO meetings, teacher conferences, and by talking with your child daily about what he is learning here at school. Please feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns that you may have.
